ExecuJet handles record number of private jets during WEF
ExecuJet Europe handled a record number of private jet movements carrying overseas Ministers, Presidents, VIPs and celebrities arriving into Zurich for the recent five-day World Economic Forum in Davos

This number was up 8% from last year’s total with a significant increase in more wide-body business jets (more Gulfstream IVs, Gulfstream Vs and Global Express aircraft). In line with the increase in jet movements, ExecuJet’s fuel sales during the week increased 15% from last year’s total for the same week.

In contradiction to reports that this years World Economic Forum would feel the effects of the recent economic downturn, ExecuJet received a higher amount of handling requests than last year and were already in the busy phase of servicing aircraft in mid January. “The current economic climate has actually led to an increase in attendance at this year’s WEF providing many industry leaders and a record number of politicians with the opportunity to discuss the challenges ahead" stated Peter Hartmann, ExecuJet Managing Director Central Europe.

ExecuJet hosted delegates from numerous countries through their FBO at Zurich Airport. Due to Zurich Airport’s limited parking for business aviation aircraft and its rather restrictive slot allocation system, ExecuJet pre-booked runway slots at Zurich and once again arranged exclusive parking at the military airport in Dübendorf for its clients. This resulted in a total of 18 aircraft taking advantage of the forward planning, an increase of five more than the previous year, mainly consisting of Global Express and Gulfstream aircraft. Dübendorf is conveniently situated just 5 nm north of Zurich with the arrangement offering the ideal solution to a significant number of cost conscious operators of larger aircraft that could not secure a parking place at Zurich Airport.

ExecuJet’s FBO representatives on the ground, led by Zurich FBO Manager Nicole Gut, looked after flight crews and passengers as well as all aircraft servicing and ground transportation requests. “The ExecuJet personnel were well prepared for the extra business and pulled together as a dedicated team. A large number of Government Ministers, dignitaries and VIPs travelled to Switzerland for the WEF and we were very pleased to make their experience through ExecuJet’s private FBO facility a pleasant one,” said Nicole Gut.
