ExecuJet South Africa busy with ‘big jet’ maintenance
Maintenance team in South Africa
Engineers at the company’s MRO facility at Lanseria International Airport in Johannesburg are currently handling four Bombardier Global Express, three Challengers and a Falcon 900.
The Dassault Falcon is in the hangar undergoing a full ‘C’ check. A foreign-registered Global Express is in for its major phase inspection, while the other Bombardier aircraft are undergoing minor phase inspections.
According to ExecuJet South Africa’s Maintenance Director, Steve Bothma, there is certainly an increase in the requests for maintenance. Bookings for maintenance have already been done for Cape Town and Johannesburg (Lanseria Airport) facilities for a number of narrow-bodied and wide-bodied business jets during the early part of next year. “Our clients are making their maintenance plans early to ensure they don’t get caught out with aircraft that can’t fly in what will be the biggest and busiest event on the global sporting calendar.”
ExecuJet’s newly created Maintenance Control Centre (MCC) has been very active to schedule these inspections in accordance with the respective operator maintenance programs. ExecuJet will then notify the customer well in advance of the upcoming maintenance and that a slot has been allocated for his aircraft. The new Maintenance Control Centre will furthermore also aid in improving the internal communication processes and streamline ExecuJet’s services to their clients. It took 8 months to set up this centre which entailed earmarking the right people, providing the necessary training and setting up the IT systems and processes. Early results show that this centre has already made a significant difference to the quality of the services delivered to our customers.
“This type of forward maintenance planning is extremely important to ensure that all the resources are available to meet the customer’s operational requirements,” added Steve Bothma. “We are gearing up our facilities in both Lanseria and Cape Town to accommodate the many visitors that are expected to fly-in during June and July next year for the World Cup matches. This event is going to be a great boost for business aviation in South Africa.”
ExecuJet South Africa will be providing a whole range of aviation packages during the 2010 FIFA World Cup games to be held in South Africa during June/July next year. The event will be held at various stadiums throughout the country in which ExecuJet plans to offer tailored packages including a full concierge service and the new SimplyFly Membership program.
